Confessions of a SOCKaholic

A few years ago, I could care less about socks. Growing up in a Catholic private school back in the Philippines, we HAD to wear plain white low cut socks with our leather, black, one-and-a-half-inch-heel-maximum shoes. When I finally moved to Texas when I was 11, I went to a public school, where I finally witnessed having to pick out clothes everyday and having the freedom to wear whatever you want (as long as you avoided the Assistant Principal). At that time, everyone was all about Converse and Vans. And what socks did we wear? Socks that cut right below the ankles. Socks that weren’t visible, you know, the “no show” socks. Looking back, man, what a tragedy that time was.

That was years ago though. After some time of exploration with my own style, I’ve found that socks are just the perfect thing for adding an extra shot of fun in my daily outfit. There’s so many cool socks out there with any pattern and any color you can think of. Lately, I’ve found myself wanting to collect them. I don’t know why, but when I see some cute socks, I just need it and can’t wait to wear them.

Here’s one I posted on Instagram a while back during a point of my obsession:

IT SAYS “LATERS HATERS” !!! Whaaaaat?? How cool is that? And, it’s pink!!! Gives me Regina George feels.

Now, here’s an overload of some of my current favorites!

I can’t get over how cute these are! I wore them in my Japanese Tea Party post. Also, check out how the ears of the bunny on top stick out!!! I love it!
SOCKS + SLOTHS, I call them my SLOCKS!
Corgi maddness!
Soft and cute, I actually wear these A LOT especially since it’s summer.
I definitely love to wear these with a plain outfit to make it stand out. Imagine a white shirt, jeans, and some oxfords with this. I live for it.
These are actually pretty thick, I like to wear them in the winter and it makes me happy even if the weather is gloomy.
These make me think American or varsity-esque.
This was one of the first socks I bought when I began interest in cute socks. I love my pug socks, but I’m sad because I can’t find the other pair anymore. It haunts me at night.

So….yeah! Those are just some of my favorites. I NEED MORE. If you guys know where to get some swaggy socks, hmu.

I hope this post has inspired you to be more fun with your clothes! Little things can make a difference and start a conversation.  🙂
